Today I would like to delve into one of the lesser known and less glorious aspects of CRM Configuration. Please take notice that I did not say ‘customization.’ The focus of this article will be configuration. You know, the very word ‘customization’ gets thrown around a lot in discussions or online and the term is often confused with the word ‘configuration.’ I would at least like to make an attempt to clarify these two concepts and how they relate to Dynamics CRM. To integrate Microsoft Dynamics CRM with Exchange or other compliant email provider, the follow considerations should be noted. To give you a sense of how much can be changed through personal options In CRM 2016 there are 9 separate tabs included in the options dialog. Each one is described and enumerated below. It is easy to lose sight of which items can be configured from within Personal options over the course of time, so I’ve decided to write them down in the list below. This listing is specific to Microsoft Dynamics CRM Server 2016. These options should be considered specific to an on premise (i.e. A non Online) CRM deployment. It is also possible to manage your offline filters that determine what subset of data you need with you when you go offline in the Outlook Client for Dynamics CRM. • Activities – Set the default view to one of the following (Day, Week, or Month) and set your default work hours (start time, end time) • Formats – Allows you to set the format for numbers, currency, time, short date (8/2/2016) and long date fields (Tuesday, August 2, 2016) • Email Templates – You can create and modify personal e-mail templates from this tab. • Email Signatures – You can create and modify personal e-mail signatures from this tab. • Email – You can select which email message to track in Microsoft Dynamics CRM to one of the following options: • All Email messages • Email message in response to CRM email • Email messages from Leads, Contacts and Accounts • Email messages from CRM records that are e-mail enabled • Configure Folder Tracking rules (assumes that folder tracking has been enabled) • Create contacts, Leads or both based on the sender or organizer of tracked e-mail message and meetings • It is also possible to navigate directly to your mailbox using a hyperlink at the bottom of this dialog page. • Privacy – Allows you to set your error notification preference to one of the following • Ask me for permission to send an error report to Microsoft • Automatically send an error report to Microsoft without asking me for permission • Never send an error report to Microsoft about Microsoft Dynamics CRM • It’s also possible to view the using a hyperlink at the bottom of this dialog page.
